There are some fruits and vegetables, which can give great results when used as a natural skin toner. Today’s post is about making a toner at your home containing wonderful natural ingredients to keep your skin clean, clear and problem free.
Skin Benefits Of The Ingredients To Be Used
Cucumber: Packed with Vitamins A, B and C; cucumbers form a great skin food as it has the same pH as that of the skin. The astringent properties in cucumbers draw out dirt and cleanse the pores, combat blemishes and pimples – making it an effective ingredient for oily skin or acne skin care.
Basil: It is good for the oily skinned people suffering from problems of acne and pimples. Basil keeps the skin glowing, reduces blemishes and improves skin texture over a period of time.
Lemon Juice: Lemon is a great astringent and can help reduce excess oiliness of the skin. Lemon juice is a natural antiseptic and can help clear sebum, dirt and bacteria that can otherwise cause breakouts. It is very beneficial for oily acne prone skin. It also works as exfoliator, so can clear blemishes, helps reduce appearance of the scars and freckles as well.
Honey: It has this great virtue of adapting to the needs of every skin type. For oily skin- it would clear up acne and would moisturize dry skin.
DIY Basil Cucumber Skin Toner
You will need:
(i) Cucumber: 1/2
(ii) Lemon: 1/2
(iii) Basil (Tulsi) leaves: 25-30 in number
(iv) Honey: Just less than 1/4 of a tablespoon
(i) Wash the cucumber and cut it in pieces. You may use a peeled cucumber or use without peeling it.
(ii) Wash the basil leaves thoroughly.
(iii) Put both the ingredients in a Mixture jar. Turn on the blender and blend until the mixture becomes a smooth paste.
(iv) Take out the paste and pour it into a strainer, and place the strainer on the top of a glass bowl. Now strain the whole thing. Use a spoon to get the juice out of the pulp so as not to waste any of the goodness.
(v) After straining, squeeze half a lemon and add the lemon juice to the mixture and also add a bit of honey (less than one fourth of a spoon). Wow, your refreshing green color skin toner is ready!
(vi) If you like using your toner as a spray, transfer the liquid in to a spray bottle and use it when required. Or if you are like me and follow the classical way of using it with the help of a cotton swab then store it in a normal stopper kind of bottle. I use my old rose water bottle for this. Let the toner be on your face for 20-25 minutes and then wash it off with cold splashes of water.
(vii) Store the mixture in refrigerator and use it at least twice a day, or when you feel a need. You can store and use it up to 5 days. Don’t use it once it starts smelling eeky.
I have dry skin and my mom has oily skin and this toner suits both of us. So I think that it would be perfect for all the skin types.
Natural Beauty Tips: We recommend that you prepare this every 4-5 days. If you find it difficult to do this every 4-5 days, at least make this toner once in a while when you feel your skin is over loaded with all the chemical stuff.
Your skin would surely love this amazing Do It Yourself (DIY) Basil, Cucumber, Lemon Juice And Honey natural skin toner for all types of skin!
