  8. Hello mam…I am too tanned since I took part in sports day .I tried curd with besan flour but didnt work out. So I am switching over to aloe vera .I just have a clarification can I use aloe vera mixed with few drops of lemon to remove my tanness on daily basis ? Or should I apply aloe vera gel daily to remove the tanness ..which is effective ?thank you mam!!!

    • @Shanth:

Lemon juice can remove skin-tan. Cut up a lemon, rub it on your skin, let dry for 15 minutes, and take a shower. You can also add in honey or aloevera juice. Make sure you rub your skin while doing this to help peel of the melanin, and take a shower afterwards.

Also, exfoliating is another effective way to remove tan, since exfoliating takes off a dead layer of skin. Make a simple paste from sugar and milk, rub over body, keep for around 5 minutes, and rinse off.

Be careful, you cannot get rid of your tan in a week. It will take time – may be upto about a month.

      Good luck!!

Here is an aloe vera face scrub recipe using aloe vera, extra virgin olive oli and brown sugar:

The aloe vera and extra virgin olive oil penetrate deeply to exfoliate, soothe, smooth, feed, nourish, protect, and hydrate your skin!

Take 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, and 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel. Mix all the ingredients and rub in a circular motion onto your body and face. Gently massage to exfoliate. Rinse the scrub off alternating between cold and warm water. Pat the skin dry.

You can apply aloe vera gel on to your face and hands every night and overnight. I suggest you find out aloe vera plant around your home , cut a small part of aloe vera leaves and extract gel from this. This gel can directly be applied on the face.

    • @ parul:

      (i) Exfoliate daily with a mild and gentle facial scrub to remove dead skin cells and help fade dark areas around the mouth. For this purpose you can use homemade sugar scrubs to get rid of pigmented skin cells and cleanse the skin. Here are some best sugar scrub recipes: http://naturalbeautytips.co/homemade-sugar-scrub-recipes/

(ii) Use a skin brightening cream or serum to lighten dark areas. Apply a thin layer of a moisturizing skin treatment, containing Vitamin C, kojic acid or grapeseed extract, around your mouth. Follow the instructions carefully and don’t use these skin-lightening products for more than three weeks.

(iii) Lighten dark skin area naturally with lemon juice. In a small bowl, mix the freshly squeezed lemon juice from 1/4 lemon with 1 tablespoon of yogurt or honey to dilute the mixture. Apply to dark areas and allow the mask to dry. Gently rinse the skin clean with warm water.

  19. Hi ma’am, ur tutorials are so ADORABLE!, PLEASE, can I add preservatives like phenonip to mixtures? 2, can I mix Aloe Vera gel, lemon juice and or cucumber juice into my regular cream adding phenonip to it?, 3, How long will one boil the aloe Vera leave, and will I remove the gel before boiling? 4, can I add the boiled and grinded aloe leave into my home made soap? Pls reply ma.

    • @ Christie:

I find the aloe vera gel gives best results when used fresh. Even with refrigeration, you can store leaves for about a week – and they leak! You could try freezing the gel, say in ice-cube trays.Or you can crush a vitamin C tablet (not the chewable ones) and add it to the gel or you can use benzoin oil, to increase storage time.

I think the gel works best on its own or with other natural ingredients, but not when mixed into creams and lotions etc.

For boiling leaves, follow this procedure:

Remove the thorns from aloe vera leaves and cut them into large chunks. Place the chunks in a suitable size pot. The aloe should fill the pot no more than halfway. Add enough clean, distilled water to the pot to cover the aloe leaves. For best results avoid using tap water which could be hard or contain chemicals such as chlorine and fluoride. Cover the pot with lid and set it on high heat to boil. Let the aloe boil for one minute then reduce the heat to medium. Keep the pot at medium heat for 2 minutes and stir often to break up the leaves. Remove the pot when the leaves are pulp and grind the solution into a paste. I have not tried adding it to homemade soap. But it can be a good idea. You need to try it.

    • @ Shruti:

      Try these home remedies:

      (i) Turmeric: It’s good for one’s complexion and many skin problems as it has antibacterial effects. It also helps to repress hair growth. Make a fluid paste by soaking turmeric powder in water, apply to the facial area where you have excess hair and leave on for a few minutes. After it dries, use a cloth dipped in warm water to wipe away the turmeric and the hair, too. Try this first on a small area to test whether this remedy suits you.

(ii) Gram flour: Since our grand-mothers time we know that gram flour (Besan) is used for face packs. Women in many parts of India regularly used a face pack made by mixing gram flour with turmeric. This is believed to have the ability to remove the excess hair on the face, particularly around the mouth and chin. It also helps in getting a smooth and flawless skin.
