How To Apply Lemon Juice On Face And Skin

It has many beauty benefits, such as lightening dark spots on your skin,  lightening  skin complexion, evening out skin tone, treating oily complexion, and so on – so many things that this little small fruit can do – wow….! But you need to learn the techniques for applying lemon juice on your face and skin at home to get optimum results.

Lemon Juice For Dark Spots, Blemish Scars, Uneven Toned Skin And Oily Skin

(i) Wash your face with an exfoliating cleanser and cool water. Pat your skin dry with a clean soft towel.

(ii) Rub a lemon rind over your skin. It helps in removing oil from your skin, and even getting rid of dark spots, blemish scars from your skin and moreover lightening it over time.

Lemon Juice On Face – Lemon Wash, Lemon Exfoliant, Or Lemon Mask

(i) Homemade Lemon Exfoliant: In a small bowl blend together 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, and 1 egg white. Rub the exfoliate gently into your skin with fingers, using circular motions. Scrub the mixture or allow it to sit it for 10 minutes, wash it off with lukewarm water, and then moisturize.

(ii) Natural Lemon Face Wash: Make at home your own very effective lemon facial wash by mixing together lemon juice, water, honey and aloe in equal parts. Splatter it over your face in the morning instead of using water to wash your face, and then rinse with water.

(iii) Natural Skin Lightening Lemon Mask For Dry Skin: Blend together 1 tablespoon of powdered milk, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of honey, and a couple of drops of essential oil of your choice. Apply this mask onto your skin, leaving it on for 20 minutes, and then wash it off with lukewarm water and moisturize.

(iv) Homemade Lemon Lotion: You can make your own lemon face lotion by mixing together two parts lemon juice and three parts glycerin. Message onto your face and skin gently before you sleep and let it sit there overnight. Wash your face in the morning to give a natural glow to your skin.

How To Use Lemon Juice On Your Face And Skin For Other Beauty Benefits

(i) Moisturize Your Skin: Mix together lemon juice, olive oil and honey in equal parts and apply onto the dry areas of your skin, leaving it there for 10-15 minutes, and then rinse it off with water. This helps in moisturizing even the excessively dry skin.

(ii) Exfoliate Your Skin With Lemon: Lemon juice acts as a natural exfoliate, because it contains citric acid that work as a gentle peel to remove top layers of the dead skin cells. Cut a lemon into quarters, dip a piece into a little bit of brown or white sugar. Scrub the cut lemon onto your face to get rid of the top layer of dead skin cells. Alternatively, you can mix lemon juice, sugar and water into a paste and rub it onto your face, and then rinse with cool water and apply moisturizer.

(iii) Tone Up Your Oily Skin With Lemon: Mix 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of water, 1 tablespoon of witch hazel and 2 tablespoons of vodka. This solution you can apply onto oily skin to remove oil and then rinse with cool water.

(iv) Lemon Skin Lightening Mask: Mix together 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of cucumber juice, 1 tablespoon of tomato juice and 1 tablespoon of sandalwood paste to form a consistent paste. Apply this paste onto your skin, leaving it there for 15-20 minutes. Rinse it off with water and moisturize.

(v) Lemon Juice To Remove Blackheads: You can use lemon juice on blackheads to reduce their occurrence and their severity as well. To remove occasional blackheads, rub direct lemon juice on them every night until they disappear. But take care to wash the lemon juice off with cool water in the morning.

(vi) Lemon Juice To Get Rid Of Wrinkles: Mix together a few drops of lemon juice with a drop of almond oil and a teaspoon of honey to form a consistent thick solution. Apply this mixture on to your face leaving it there for about 15 minutes, and then rinse it off with cool water. You can also apply this mixture around your eyes to remove fine lines. But take care that it does not go into your eyes. Fine lines and wrinkles removal is a slow process and will take time.

Does Lemon Juice Lighten Your Skin?

Lemon juice contains citric acid that does have natural lightening properties and so the lemon juice can lighten your skin. But it will not give you quick results. The process will take time.

How Often To Use Lemon Juice?

Don’t get tempted to apply lemon juice mask or lemon juice alone directly onto your skin daily. Lemon juice has properties to dry out the skin, if applied daily. Limit its use to every other day or 3-4 applications in a week.

Natural Beauty Tips On Lemon Juice Use:

(i) Lemon juice is acidic and its application can dry out your skin, so moisturize your skin after its use.

(ii) Add yogurt to lemon juice to make your own skin brightening and moisturizing mask.

(iii) Don’t apply lemon juice onto the areas having open cuts, bruises, or wounds. The acid in the lemon juice will sting. Should this happen, wash the area with cool water.

(iv) Never go out in the sun and avoid exposure to sun light with lemon juice on your skin.

(v) If irritation, redness or dryness occurs then dilute the lemon juice with more water or discontinue its use on your skin.

(vi) Lemon juice contains acid and its use can dry out your skin. Apply moisturizer after its use to keep your skin hydrated.
