DIY Banana Hair Mask At Home

Bananas are packed with potassium, vitamins A, B6, C, as well as zinc and iron, which make them an ideal choice for homemade hair growth and strengthening treatments. Potassium strengthens hair, minimizes breakage by revamping your hair’s natural elasticity, and helps repair damaged hair. Bananas also moisturize your hair as they contain natural oils and about 75% water. Strong, moisturized hair also is less likely to frizzing and tangling.

Homemade Banana Hair Mask Recipes

You can use the goodness of a fully ripe banana on your hair in many ways in making it soft, shiny, manageable and dandruff free. Banana also helps in improving the natural elasticity of the hair and treating the hair’s split-ends problem.

1. Basic Banana Hair Mask: This mask is easiest of all the banana masks.

You will need:

Only 1 or 2 fully ripe and soft banana(s).

Method: Blend the banana(s) thoroughly into a chunks-free smooth paste (use a food processor if you like to make sure there aren’t any lumps), massage it gently onto your entire hair and scalp, and cover with a shower cap or wrap your head with a damp, hot towel. Covering your hair with a hot towel will maximize the results and helps in locking the moisture nutrients in your hair. Leave the mask on for at least 20 minutes and then shampoo your hair as usual and rinse well.

Natural Beauty Tip: Blending the ripe banana into a lumps free paste is necessary to make sure that you are able to remove all the residues of the banana easily.

2. Banana And Honey Hair Mask: Honey contains moisturizing properties and acts as a humectant that help to lock the moisture into your hair, plus it’s good to treat split hair ends as well.

You will need:

(i) Fully ripe banana: 1 or 2, depending upon length of your hair

(ii) Organic Honey: 3 tablespoons per banana

Method:

Blend the banana(s) thoroughly into a lumps-free smooth paste and mix in well 3 tablespoons of organic honey with it in a small glass bowl. Massage gently the paste all through your hair, concentrating at the hair ends. Let the pack sit on for about 20-25 minutes and then shampoo your hair as usual and rinse well.

3. Homemade Banana Deep Conditioner: Coconut milk is fully packed with antioxidants and fats. This banana hair mask works as not only a great deep conditioner, but boosts hair growth as well and strengthens it with protein and oils. Coconut oil has vitamin E and healthy fatty acids that hydrate your hair, promotes hair growth, augments hair shine, and control keratin loss. This wonderful oil also contains lauric acid that provides hair antibacterial and antifungal properties and also treats dandruff.

You will need:

(i) Banana: 1, fully ripe

(ii) Coconut milk: 2 tablespoons

(iii) Coconut oil: 1 tablespoon, organic

(iv) Honey: 2 tablespoons, organic

Method:

(i) Take the banana in a bowl and mix in coconut milk and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Those who are having dry, frizzy hair may add in another tablespoon of the oil.

(ii) Mix in the honey, and transfer the mixture into a blender. Blend the mixture thoroughly, until you get a smooth lumps-free paste.

(iii) Dampen your hair. Apply the banana hair conditioner starting from roots and working your way to the ends. Slather as much as you can, making sure you have covered every bit of your scalp and hair. Wind your hair into a loose bun if long.

(iv) Put on a shower cap or wrap your head and hair with a damp, hot towel. Covering your hair with a hot towel will maximize the results and help in locking the moisture nutrients in your hair. Leave the mask on for at least 30 minutes and then shampoo your hair as usual and rinse out the mask well.

Natural Beauty Tip: If you like, you may add some extra virgin olive oil or sweet almond oil (instead of coconut oil) to your paste, or a tablespoon of conditioner.

4. Banana, Coconut Milk And avocado Hair Mask: This mask is good for dry hair and treats damaged hair as well to make it soft and shiny.
