Why Use Skin Toner?
Applying toner is an ideal last step in a skin care regime. It helps smoothen your facial skin and close pores that might have got opened in the cleansing process. Especially, in summers using a toner or mist forms an important part of any beauty care routine. The summer heat can make your skin look all dull and gloomy. So, what needed is a chilled spray bottle of toner waiting for you in the fridge when you return home from outside in cruel summers.
Cucumber Has Many Skin Benefits
Its high water content not only hydrates your skin, but also acts as a natural coolant to your skin. In summers, it’s a boon to the sun burnt skin. It soothes, calms and revitalizes sun-damaged skin. Moreover, it closes the pores and reduces oiliness.
In last summers I came up with the idea of using cucumber as a natural ingredient in preparing my DIY toner. Considering the cool-cool properties of cucumber and that it is super cheap and easily available, I decided to plunge into this toner.
You cannot imagine how refreshing this cold cucumber toner can be to your skin. You can feel its magic. If used regularly, it’s very helpful in closing and shrinking skin pores. The reason behind it is this simple logic: Whereas heat opens up the pores, cold closes them.

You will need: This recipe also requires a small size fresh cucumber.
(i) Chop the cucumber into small pieces.
(ii) Put the pieces into a pan. Add water to the pan, just the amount in which these cucumber pieces will be well immersed.
(iii) Place the pan on a low flame for about 5-6 minutes, not more than that. The aim is to infuse the cucumber essence and properties into the water totally. At the same time, take care not to boil the water or keep it for a long time on the flame because that will work against the aim, that is, it will exterminate the nutrients in the cucumber.
(iv) Put the flame off, remove the pan and allow the cucumber water cool down a bit. It would take approximately 10 minutes to cool down to the level we want. Transfer the whole thing to a mixer jar.
(v) Churn the whole thing for about 20 seconds keeping the mixer speed at the 1st level.
(vi) Now sieve the juice out so as to separate the larger pieces. Filter the juice and collect it directly into a spray glass.
