DIY Mayonnaise Hair Mask

A mayonnaise hair mask is not only inexpensive but natural and safe too. Mayonnaise contains oils, egg-yolk and other natural ingredients that nourish hair. It provides your hair the strength and goodness of eggs, enhances hair density and makes hair roots stronger. DIY mayonnaise hair masks are good, especially if your hair is dry, brittle or frizzy. Using mayonnaise in homemade hair masks will leave your hair soft, silky and shiny.

Make Your Own Mayonnaise At Home 

Though, you can use a store-bought mayonnaise as a convenient option – but then that contains preservatives, which we would not recommend to put on your hair. You can make your own mayonnaise using all-natural ingredients. This way you will have control over what you are putting in your hair.

All you would need for this is some extra virgin olive oil, egg yolk and lemon juice.

You will need:

(i) Egg yolk: 1

(ii) Vinegar: 1 teaspoon

(iii) Lemon juice: 1 teaspoon

(iv) Extra virgin olive or canola oil: 1/2 cup

Method:

(i) Mix an egg yolk, 1-teaspoon vinegar, 1-teaspoon lemon juice and 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive or canola oil in a glass bowl.

(ii) Mix all the ingredients together using a hand blender in a slow motion. Keep mixing until the mixture turns into texture like that of mayonnaise.

(iii) Apply it thoroughly into hair, covering every strand of your hair. Cover your head with a shower cap. Allow the mask to stay for an hour, and then shampoo your hair as usual.

2. Nourishing Mayonnaise Mask With Milk And Honey: For super dry hair try this excellent rehydration treatment. No doubt mayonnaise alone is enough for hair conditioning, but adding milk and honey would make it even better. All these three ingredients are great natural conditioners that will make your hair incredibly soft and silky.

You will need:

(i) Mayonnaise: 1/2 cup

(ii) Honey: 1 tablespoon, organic

(iii) Milk: 1 tablespoon, raw

Method: Mix all the ingredients together in a glass bowl. Apply it thoroughly into your hair, covering every strand of your hair. Cover your head with a shower cap. Allow the mask to stay for an hour, and then shampoo your hair as usual.

3. Cleansing Mayonnaise, Vinegar And Lemon Juice Hair Mask: For dull looking hair, you need some additional ingredients to clean your hair thoroughly and restore its shine. Whereas vinegar and lemon juice work as natural cleansers, mayonnaise acts as a great hair conditioner and moisturizer.

You will need:

(i) Mayonnaise: 1/2 cup,

(ii) Vinegar: 1 tablespoon, distilled or apple cider – alternatively lemon juice: 1 tablespoon, freshly squeezed

Method: Mix together thoroughly 1/2 cup mayonnaise with 1 tablespoon of vinegar (distilled or apple cider). Or alternatively, you can use 1 tablespoon lemon juice in place of vinegar. Apply it thoroughly into your hair, covering every strand of your hair. Cover your head with a shower cap. Allow the mask to stay for an hour, and then shampoo your hair as usual.

4. Treat Hair Frizz – Mayonnaise And Egg White Mask: Mayonnaise already contains egg yolk that can hydrate your hair deeply. On the other hand egg white has ability to treat frizz and dryness in the hair. So, a combo of mayonnaise and egg white will work magic to reduce frizz in your hair.

You will need:

(i) Egg white: 1

(ii) Mayonnaise: 1/2 cup

Method: Separate egg white of one egg from yolk. Keep the yolk aside for a later use. Whisk the egg white with 1/2-cup mayonnaise in a bowl. Apply it thoroughly into your hair, covering every strand of your hair. Cover your head with a shower cap. Allow the mask to stay for an hour, and then shampoo your hair as usual.

(i) Make sure to use full-fat mayonnaise

(ii) For exceedingly dry, dull and damaged hair, consider leaving mayonnaise overnight. Protect your pillow from stains with a plastic cover as the plastic covering your head might leak while you are sleeping.
