Whether it’s hot and humid or cold and dry, the climatic conditions can affect your skin adversely. Extremes in weather — both hot and cold can really cause everything from itchy dry patches to acne breakouts and from dull lifeless skin to premature skin aging and what not.
And then no matter what the weather is like, the sunrays always remain a main concern – it’s one of the major causes of wrinkles and faster aging. Even when you don’t feel hot, the sun’s exposure can ruin your skin.
Most of you must be spending hundreds of dollars per month on over-the-counter expensive creams and serums to take care of your facial skin. But many of these beauty products contain ingredients that are not safe for use on facial skin.
For the past few months, I have been experimenting with several homemade facial serum recipes. And you would not believe …… what I have found! Some of the homemade versions are really better than the super expensive over-the-counter stuff.
Basics Of Making Your Own Healthy DIY Facial Serum
It’s really easy! Simply combine together a few skin rejuvenating healthy ingredients and you have an effective skin caring face serum. For a DIY face serum recipe you only need carrier oil & a few skin friendly essential oils. That’s all! Read on here for two best ever diy face serum recipes:
For Gorgeous Skin
You will need:
Jojoba Oil: It’s one oil that mimics most closely the sebum (natural oil) in your face. Irrespective of your skin type, it works beautifully on most skin types. Because of this reason, majority of the beauty experts often recommend using this oil on face.
Rosehip Oil: This oil contains vitamins A, C, & E, beta-carotene and fatty acids – they all are amazing for your skin. It’s believed that it works great for skin scars, sun damage, and much more.
There are many essential oils that are beneficial for the face. I prefer to use a combination of Frankincense (anti aging), Tea Tree (for acne), & Lavender (soothing). Other great essential oils for skin are Geranium, Rose & Helychrysum.
Pure Vitamin E Oil: Vitamin E is incredible for your facial skin. It fades scaring, wrinkles, fine lines and offers adequate moisture.
It’s thick, sticky oil. Always keep in mind to buy pure vitamin E, without any additives or mixed with any other oil.
One Ounce Glass Bottle Fitted With Dropper
I prefer these dark amber or blue glass ones, as the dark color bottles will shield the contents from getting affected by the sunlight.
(i) Mix Essential Oils: Select the essential oils as per your needs and put not more than 10 drops of these oils in total (use a single oil or any combination of them) in the glass bottle with dropper.
(ii) Add Vitamin E: Now mix in the Vitamin E oil. As you will be adding carrier oil in the next step, so make sure that you use pure Vitamin E oil without mixed with any other oil. As the pure vitamin oil is thick and sticky, you would need to add a dollop (less than 1 teaspoon) to your glass dropper bottle.
(iii) Mix In The Carrier Oil(s): Now you fill up remaining empty portion of the bottle with the carrier oil(s). I prefer to use a 50-50 split between Jojoba Oil and Rosehip Oil. However, you may use different carrier oils and experiment what works best for your skin type. For example, the other two oils, I recommend are grapeseed oil and carrot seed oil. They are also great for facial skin.
You don’t need to measure the oils, just put the oils directly into the dropper bottle. Approximately, half jojoba & half rosehip oil. After filling all the way up to the top, tighten the lid, carefully invert and gently shake it to combine all of the ingredients thoroughly.
Now your 100% toxin free diy serum is ready for use! You will find that it moisturizes just the right amount, not leave any oily residue, and smells great. Your skin will feel better as never before!
