Normally we lose about 50-100 strands a day, and up to 250 on days when we shower. At times, unfortunately, many people lose hair at a higher rate, which leads to thinning of hair. It can happen to anyone — men and women at any age, because of various reasons like pregnancy, major surgeries, extreme stress, drastic weight loss, genes, certain medications, autoimmune diseases, and excessive styling, etc.

Homemade Hair Masks To Strengthen Damaged, Dry Hair
Let us first understand what does our hair need? Iron, fats, protein, and biotin. Protein is the main player here. Hair is actually made up of 91% protein. A protein-rich mask can help fill in some damaged, weakened areas of your strands and so help rebuild.
Hair Strengthening Mask # 1
Looking for dry hair remedy? Try this natural hair mask. It contains almond milk and coconut oil, which can infuse life into your dry hair. And the protein of egg whites will strengthen your tresses.
Benefits Of The Ingredients
Egg White: Offers the much-needed protein and almost all the other nutrients needed to nourish damaged hair and weak hair ends. For example, egg white contains riboflavin (B2) and deficiency of this vitamin is linked to hair loss. Egg white also contains most of the sulfur content of eggs, and sulfur is also a common ingredient in anti-dandruff shampoos.
Coconut Oil: One of the most easily absorbed oils for hair. Due to its low molecular weight, it can easily penetrate inside the hair shaft, making it very effective for moisturizing hair and repairing hair damage. It’s rich in lauric acid, and has a high affinity for hair protein as well.
Almond Milk: It’s rich in protein, which is good for strengthening hair and reducing breakage. It contains a high amount of iron, which is also great for strengthening hair and preventing hair loss. The presence of fatty acids, in almond milk, makes it suitable for deep conditioning hair and promoting softness. It also helps tame flyaways and frizzy hair. Additional nutrients in almond milk include potassium, magnesium, manganese, selenium, zinc and vitamins A, B, D & E, all of which are good for hair strengthening and softening.
Rosemary Essential Oil: It’s good for your scalp and accentuates hair color and adds shine.
You will need:
(i) Egg White: 3-4 tablespoons
(ii) Coconut oil: 1-2 tablespoons
(iii) Almond Milk: 4-5 tablespoons
(iv) Rosemary Essential Oil: 8 drops (optional)

For damaged and over-processed hair, protein-rich egg mask is a nature’s miracle. It smoothes damaged cuticles to restore hair strength and shine.
Benefits Of The Ingredients
Whole Egg: This mask contains egg yolk also. I have stated above the benefits of egg white for hair. Egg yolk is rich in vitamins that may make hair more resistant to damage. The yolk may be especially useful to moisturize hair that appears dry. Egg yolk can be super food for your hair due to the unique combination of vitamins found inside. Vitamins A and E, biotin, and folate are just some of the nutrients that are good for hair growth and healthy hair.
Coconut Oil: Benefits as stated above in the first recipe.
Olive Oil: It has rich moisturizing properties that make it ideal for use on your hair. Olive oil helps your hair to look healthier, stronger and shinier.
Honey: Honey is a humectant; it attracts and holds moisture, which makes it a good choice for damaged or dry hair. It has antimicrobial properties that make it an effective cleanser.
Banana: Banana improves manageability, controls dandruff, moisturizes scalp and also helps repair dry, sun-damaged hair. It’s rich in potassium, natural oils, carbohydrates and vitamins, which help soften the hair and protect the hair’s natural elasticity, preventing split ends and breakage. It’s full of vitamins and is one of the most effective ingredients to strengthen and volumize hair.
