DIY Lavender Clay Mud Face MaskIf your skin has been damaged by the long-term breakouts then you need something stronger to help really heal your skin. Earlier I’ve shared with you bentonite clay mask recipes, which are great for general skin care. (Bentonite Clay Mask Recipes)

Today I am going to share with you lavender green clay mask recipe. This Lavender and french green clay mud mask has been found to be good for people with acne, skin redness, rosacea, and other scarring as well.

French green clay is meant specifically for healing skin . It’s packed with important skin friendly nutrients such as mineral oxides, magnesium, calcium, potassium, dolomite, silica, manganese, phosphorous, silicon, copper, and selenium. It also contains decomposed plant matter and volcanic ash.  This clay has ability to draw out all of the junk from the skin pores. Thus it helps cleanse and initiate the healing process.

DIY French Green Mud Clay And Lavender Face Mask

I created this skin-healing mask by combining the French green clay with lavender. Lavender is known for its soothing healing abilities. This clay mud mask is easy to make as you just need to throw together three ingredients, and your own diy mask is ready to speed up the healing process!

You will need:

(i) Pour the water into a small saucepan and throw in the lavender buds.  Cover the pan with a lid and place the saucepan on a low heat. Bring the mixture to a boil and then remove from the heat.

(ii) Keep the saucepan covered with its lid. Let this mixture steep for at least 30 minutes. For best results leave it overnight; I do the same.

(iii) Strain the lavender mixture.

(iv) In a small glass bowl, mix the lavender concoction with the clay thoroughly until you get a smooth pack. It will be a little bit thinner/soupier than a normal mask. Let it be like this, don’t add more clay. It will thicken over the next few hours.

(v) Transfer the mixture into an 8-oz. glass jar. Store it this way with a lid on it, in a cool and dark place, to keep it from drying out.

How To Use Lavender Green Clay Mask To Heal Skin?

(i) If your aim is just to keep your skin healthy, simply use it once a week. And if your purpose is to heal your skin then use it daily for a week or so and thereafter every couple of days, and eventually just once a week.

(ii) To apply the mask, first dip a washcloth in hot water. Place it over your face and leave it for a minute so as to help “steam” your face and open skin pores. Then pat gently to get your skin wet.

(iii) Take out a small amount of the mask and spread over your face, avoiding your eyes and mouth. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. If applying first time, you might leave it on for less than that.

(iv) Use your wash-cloth wet with warm water to wipe off the mask. While cleansing this will serve the purpose of gently exfoliating your skin as well. Finish with patting your skin with warm water, then splashing cold water to close your pores. Pat dry your face.

Note: You may feel your skin throbbing and the green clay may make it little bit itchy and sore. It’s very different from bentonite clay. Your skin may also get really red and inflamed for 20 – 30 minutes after removing the mask. But each day you will see small improvements, after the redness goes away!

Note: If you feel your skin dries out after using this mask, we recommend that you follow the mask with this homemade acne salve.
