Lemon juice is a natural rich source of vitamin C, which can benefit your skin by slowing down the cells that are responsible for producing melanin in the skin. This helps prevent the skin from tanning or darkening.

Yogurt is high in lactic acid, which helps exfoliate and lighten the skin complexion.

Rose water can calm inflammation in the skin, which helps reduce any redness.

You will need:

(i) Lemon juice: 15 ml (1 tablespoon); freshly squeezed.

(ii) Plain yogurt: 250 grams (one cup); unsweetened & unflavored.

Method:

(i) Mix the lemon juice and yogurt (amounts as mentioned above) in a small bowl. Stir the mixture thoroughly until you get a well-blended concoction.

(ii) Once the yogurt and lemon juice are mixed, add 2 – 3 drops of rose water. Again stir the mixture well until the three ingredients are well blended.

(iii) Transfer the cream in to an airtight container such as a jar with lid. As the yogurt turns bad if kept out side, you store this cream in a refrigerator. It should stay fresh for one to two weeks, if kept in the refrigerator. But discard it if you see any sign of mold.

Note: If you find that the above quantities makes more than what can be used in one to two weeks, you may prepare a smaller batch by reducing the ingredients amounts proportionately.

How To Use Lemon Skin Whitening Cream?

You can apply this cream everyday. Because the lactic acid in the yogurt & citric acid in the lemon juice can make your skin sensitive to the sun, it’s recommended not to apply this cream during the day time. Use it in the evening before you go to sleep for the best results. Make sure to wash off the cream in the morning with a gentle cleanser & warm water. Use sunscreen before going outdoors.

The lactic acid may irritate sensitive skin, so better go slow and allow your skin get used to this cream. In case you have sensitive skin, start with applying the cream every alternate night.

Almonds are a natural rich source of Vitamin E, which is an antioxidant that helps in preventing sun damage that can darken your skin. Yogurt is high in lactic acid, which exfoliates and thus can help lighten skin’s dark spots. Honey contains good amount of antioxidants, which helps prevent your skin from sun damage that can otherwise darken the skin. Lemon juice is rich in vitamin C, which also helps prevent your skin from darkening.

You will need

(i) Sweet almonds: 5 to 6, whole unsalted

(ii) Plain yogurt: 250 grams (1 cup); unsweetened & unflavored

(iii) Honey: 7 grams (1 teaspoon); organic

(iv) Lemon juice: 10 ml (2 teaspoons); freshly squeezed

Method:

(i) Put 5 to 6 whole, sweet almonds in a blender or coffee grinder or in the bowl of a food processor. Grind the almonds until you have a fine, powdery texture.

(ii) Combine the ground almonds with the yogurt, honey, and lemon juice (amounts mentioned above) in a small bowl. Stir the ingredients thoroughly until they are completely mixed, and your cream is ready.

(iii) Transfer the cream in to an airtight container such as a jar with a lid. Store the container in the refrigerator to avoid the yogurt from going bad.

(iv) You can store the cream for 1-2 weeks. But if you notice any sign of mold, don’t use it.
