And for removing tough-to-remove lipstick or eye makeup, you may need a makeup-removing balm before washing your skin.

Next, follow these steps to remove dirt and oil from your face properly:

  • First, wet your face with lukewarm water.
  • Apply a gentle facial cleanser in circular motions using your fingertips, paying more attention to your head, nose, chin (T-zone), and jawline.
  • Rinse thoroughly so that no cleanser residue is left behind.
  • Pat dry with a soft, clean towel.

These days, face cleansers are specially formulated to mimic the skin’s pH more closely so as not to overly dry out your skin or compromise the skin barrier. However, a recent survey reveals that the problem is that most people use bath wash or hand soap on their face. Consequences Of Not Washing Your Face Twice Per Day?

Let’s see what could happen when we don’t wash our face twice. It depends on the skin type and condition. If your skin is acne prone and you don’t wash your face regularly, the breakouts can become more frequent or worsen. Washing your skin twice daily is necessary for people with acne-prone skin because cleansing removes debris from the skin and pores, which, if allowed to build up, would clog the pores, deteriorating the acne condition.  

One caveat: According to some experts, more washing may not be better for acne. Washing the face more than twice daily can strip the natural oils in the skin, causing your skin to overproduce oils.

Even if you don’t go out of your house on a day or don’t wear makeup that day, you still shouldn’t sleep at night without a wash first. This is because oil, dirt, and debris can still build up on your skin during the day. If not removed, they can clog your skin pores.
