Steps-by Steps Guide On How To apply a hair mask at home
First, here are some products you can include in your hair care routine.
How to use a hair mask at home?
Follow this step-by-step guide on how to use a hair mask:
1. Always start with clean hair
Most importantly, you should always apply a hair mask on completely clean hair. This is because only a clean scalp and hair can absorb all the essential ingredients of your mask optimally. If you have dry or frizzy hair, shampoo your hair first and then apply a conditioner as usual before you apply the mask. If you have an oily scalp, then the normal process of shampooing your hair will work well.
2. Get rid of excess water from your hair
For better results, it is suggested that you apply a hair on damp hair, neither dry nor soaking wet. This way, all the best ingredients of your hair mask will penetrate deep inside each strand. In addition, you may use a microfiber towel to soak up all the excess water from your hair quickly without damaging your hair with friction. You may use an old cotton T-shirt if you don’t have a microfiber towel.
3. Apply the mask
Remember, you don’t have to go overboard with your mask; a little is enough to go a long way. Start applying the mask by focusing through your mid-lengths and hair ends only. Gently massage the mask into your hair in a downward motion for at least thirty seconds. This will help the product to penetrate better, sealing the cuticle for more smoothness and shine.
4. Leave the mask on for 3-5 minutes to soak in all the goodness
For best results, follow the instructions and leave the mask on according to the time recommended on the pack. Usually, 3-5 minutes is enough for your hair mask to work its magic. If you leave a mask on it longer than the suggested time, it will not harm your hair. For better results, you may follow the hot towel method, wherein you can cover your hair in a towel soaked in hot water.
Note: Some more adventurous people prefer to leave the hair mask overnight, covering the hair in a towel and rinsing it in the morning.
Hair masks are packed with potent nourishing ingredients that infuse the appropriate amount of moisture in your hair. After your hair strands have absorbed all the goodness, rinse the mask off thoroughly to ensure no residue is left so that your hair is neither weighed down nor gets greasy quicker.
