Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)

It helps detoxify your scalp, restricting the scalp from producing excessive oil, cleansing buildup & residue from styling products and curbing dandruff as well. As a bonus, it can also help unclog hair follicles, and leaving your hair looking soft & shiny hair.

Mix 2 tablespoons of ACV in a cup of lukewarm water to make an effective hair rinse. Wash your hair with shampoo as usual, and then pour this hair-rinsing mixture all over your hair, from root to tip. Massage gently for a couple of minutes and wash afterwards with water. For best results, you can do this twice per week.

You can also add in a few drops rosemary or chamomile essential oil to the above ACV hair-rinse to give a nice smell to your hair.

Aloe Vera Gel

While detoxifying the scalp & getting rid of impurities, aloe vera helps control extra oil secretion. As a bonus, the presence of vitamins and minerals in aloe vera gel help nourish and moisturize the hair roots.

Mix 1 teaspoon of freshly extracted gel from aloe vera leaves with a few drops of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Apply the mixture generously all over your scalp, leaving it there for 10 to 15 minutes. Wash your hair with your favorite shampoo as usual.

Alternatively, if you don’t have enough time and need a quick fix, mix 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel with the shampoo of your choice, and wash your hair as you normally would. This will not only help clean but also moisturize your hair at the same time.

Another natural home remedy to fight greasiness is to use baking soda. While absorbing excess oil, it helps control oil production as well. But make sure to use baking soda in a diluted form. Mix 2 to 3 tablespoons of baking soda with 1 liter of water. Wet your hair with this mixture. Wait for twenty to thirty minutes, and then wash your hair with shampoo as you normally do. Follow this treatment 3 times a week.

Fenugreek (Methi) Seeds

Fenugreek seeds help rid your scalp of extra oils without upsetting the normal pH level. These seeds also have luster rendering property, and so work as natural conditioner. They also provide essential nutrients to the scalp.

Soak 3-4 tablespoon of fenugreek seeds in water overnight for about 8 hours. Grind the seeds to form a fine paste next morning. Massage the paste into your scalp and hair. Make sure it reaches the scalp. Leave it there for about 30 minutes, and then wash it off using a mild shampoo. Repeat this remedy once per week to treat oily scalp, dandruff, hair fall and hair thinning.

Alternatively, mix two tablespoons each of ground fenugreek (methi) & gram flour (besan) in coconut milk. Massage this into your scalp, leaving it on for about an hour. Shampoo as usual. Repeat this remedy once every week.
