Olive Oil Skin Recipes

1. Olive Oil Face Wash – Cleansing With Olive Oil: It acts as an effective deep cleanser and has capability to break down sebum (natural oil produced by skin) and impurities based on a chemistry theory “like dissolves like”. Consequently, olive oil cleanser dissolves problematic extra sebum without stripping your skin of the essentially required natural lipids. Have a look on the benefits of olive oil on skin:

(i) Moisturizing – smoothens your skin, leaving it supple while locking in moisture.

(ii) Non-comedogenic – meaning a skincare product or cosmetic that is formulated so as not to cause blocked pores.

(iii) Rich in anti-oxidants – stimulates the production of collagen and elastin.

(iv) Its chemical composition is similar to that of human skin’s own natural oil, sebum.

Method: Take a little extra virgin olive oil and rub it all over your face using your clean fingers. Cover your face with a very warm washcloth (as much warm as you can withstand) and press lightly. As the washcloth cools, rinse it, warm it up again, squeeze it out and reapply. Finally, wash off with lukewarm water. Wow, doesn’t your skin feel super clean now?

2. Olive Oil Sugar Scrub: If you want to scrub and remove dead skin cells to brighten your facial tone, tighten pores and lift wrinkles, add a gently abrasive element, such as sugar or sea salt with extra virgin olive oil. Here is the basic olive oil and sugar scrub recipe.

You will need:

(i) Granulated Sugar: 1 cup, white or brown

(ii) Extra virgin olive oil: 1/4th cup

(iii) If you like, add in 4-5 drops of an essential oil or a little herb or kitchen flavorings like cinnamon, honey or vanilla.

Depending upon how much skin area you desire to cover, you can adjust the quantities in the same proportion.

Natural Beauty Tips:

(i) An olive oil sugar scrub works amazingly all over your body, particularly great for exfoliating and moisturizing arms, legs and derriere.

(ii) After using this scrub on your legs, you will not need to use shaving cream or soap for shaving as the razor will glide incredibly.  Just make sure to rinse the razor well!

(ii) Olive oil and sea salt scrub: Alternatively, you can mix 1/2 cup of olive oil with 1 tbsp. of sea salt and use all over your body, including your face.

3, Olive Oil Facial Scrub (Cleanser, Exfoliant And Moisturizer – All In One): This is a very simple basic recipe.

You will need:

(i) Extra virgin olive oil: 1 teaspoon

(ii) Baking soda: 2 teaspoon

(iii) Freshly squeezed lemon juice or organic honey (optional)

Method: Mix all the ingredients into a uniform paste. Message onto your skin to exfoliate, and then wash it off gently using a warm washcloth. Finally, splash with cool-cool water. Wow, in one step you have washed, exfoliated and moisturized!

4. Olive Oil Moisturizer Recipe: For an olive oil moisturizing scrub, mix 1/4 cup of granulated sugar with 1 tbsp. of grated cucumber, aloe vera juice or mashed avocado. Drizzle in enough olive oil to make a smooth paste, then scrub gently into your face and rinse off.

  1. Hi it is great to get so much of tips from your sharing. Just wonder if i could apply olive oil directly to my face and around eyes area as moisturizer and leave it overnight? thanks and regards

  2. @ Carmen:

For dry skin, you can apply extra virgin olive oil to your face before going to bed, and let it stay on overnight. You can wash it off in the morning with lukewarm water.

    • Thanks a lot for your reply, Chandni. Means, if i have combination skin, i can apply olive oil to the dry area, and maybe can use grape seed oil for oily area? I am really in love with all the natural remedy especially oil as skin care routine 🙂

  3. @ Carmen:

Olive oil is known to dissolve the oil present on the skin without leaving your skin oily or dry. The magical olive oil is used in old therapies to cleanse and moisturize skin. Olive oil acts as a great skin moisturizer and is suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive ones. However, it is important to keep in mind that this oil should be used in little or moderate amounts as excess use of oil can lead to breakouts in acne prone skin.

So, try leaving it overnight on your skin and see how your skin respond to it. Good luck!
