Olive Oil For Preventing Wrinkles

Olive oil for wrinklesIt’s unfortunate that appearance of wrinkles as we age is an inevitable natural process. Once the wrinkles and fine lines are formed, it becomes difficult to reverse these signs of aging. Best is to take care of your skin and delay formation of fine lines & wrinkles.

The wrinkle treatments available on market are expensive and beyond the reach of many people due to their budget constraints. The nature has provided us with some skin friendly oils such as almond, castor, jojoba, coconut, grapeseed oil etc. These oils are non-toxic, non-oxidizing, unsaturated and free of chemicals. Olive oil is one such oil that is good to fight skin wrinkles.

Is Olive Oil Good For Face Wrinkles?

Olive oil has been used in skin care and as a beauty treatment since ancient times for its skin moisturizing and nourishing properties.

The wrinkles removing benefit of olive oil depends on the magnitude of wrinkles, enormousness of already-existing skin aging signs and skin’s de-hydration level.

As per my experience and views of some top skin specialists, olive oil works more effective for preventing wrinkles formation than as an aging reversal intervention. However, besides preventing wrinkles formation, it can also soften the existing fine lines and wrinkles.

Why It Helps In Preventing Wrinkles Formation?

It has strong antioxidant properties such as vitamin E, phytosterols and polyphenols, which help fight against skin damaging free radicals that are responsible for premature skin aging

The skin’s external layer works as a barrier guarding the skin from the vagaries of external environment and also regulating moisture loss from the deeper skin layers. Topical application of an oily cosmetic on the skin’s surface has moisturizing and occlusive effect, controlling moisture loss and facilitating build-up of moisture in the skin – and keeping your skin well moisturized is an effective way to prevent wrinkle formation.

‘Extra virgin olive oil is high in fat-soluble vitamin E, which is a potent anti-oxidant that can protect skin damage from air pollution.

Due to olive oil’s lipophilic nature, it can easily be absorbed deep inside the skin – so can nourish your skin from deep inside.

Applying extra virgin, cold pressed olive oil onto the skin at night is preferable than daytime application considering that it has no ingredients which can protect against sun damage. In fact, in some cases olive oil may cause skin pigmentation or sensitivities, if you expose your skin to sunlight with olive oil thereon.
